Kaʻieʻie Program

What is the Ka'ie'ie Program?

The Kaʻieʻie program is a degree pathway program between the University of Hawai‘i community college system campuses (Hawai’i CC, Honolulu CC, Kapiʻolani CC, Kauaʻi CC, Leeward CC, Windward CC, and UH Maui College) and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UH Mānoa). It is a dual-admission, dual-enrollment program for students who want to pursue a four-year undergraduate degree at UH Mānoa, but choose to begin their degree at another University of Hawai‘i system campus.

Goals of the Kaʻieʻie program

  • To help students transfer smoothly and graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
  • To provide mandatory advising and academic planning for students and to connect them earlier to their major departments at UH Mānoa.
  • To provide students with the opportunity to take courses at one or both institutions (UH system campus and UH Mānoa), while identifying the best time to transfer.

  • Develop an academic plan to align degree requirements at your UH System Campus with your degree requirements at UH Mānoa
  • Ka'ie'ie priority registration upon transfer to UH Mānoa
  • Better chances to obtain a parking permit at UH Mānoa in your transfer semester
  • Meet your UH Mānoa advisor prior to transfer
  • Transfer Credit Evaluation done at time of acceptance to program (at least 1 semester prior to full transfer)
  • Optional enrollment in UH Mānoa courses (at UH Mānoa tuition rate)

Eligibility

  • Have a UH Mānoa major chosen
  • 24 transferable credits OR 12 transferable done and 12 in progress*
  • At least 1 semester remaining at UH CC after the application semester
  • 2.0 cumulative GPA (residents), 2.5 cumulative GPA (non-residents)**
  • No previously earned Bachelor's degree
  • Not on probation, suspension, or dismissal at UH Mānoa
  • International Students: have passing TOEFL scores or completed ENG 100 or ESL 100
*Course levels 100+
**These are minimum admissions GPA requirements. Some programs may require higher GPAs or additional coursework. Always check program requirements.

Application Deadline

Fall Transfer
March 1st

Spring Transfer
October 1st

Students must apply for Kaʻieʻie by the deadline and spend at least 1 semester in Kaʻieʻie before transferring to UH Mānoa. Minimum 1 year before transfer.
